IMPERIALISM Definition:Imperialism is when a country takes over another country either politically, culturally, or economically.
Causes for Imperialism in Africa
Europe would have access to more natural resources in Africa.
Europe would gain more money because of new consumers in Africa.
Some countries in Europe wanted to spread Christianity.
Some countries did it to feel racially superior.
Some countries took control of land to stop their rivals from expanding.
More ports and bases were needed to carry natural resources.
European Reason for Justification
The economy and government of their country would be much better.
Some English people felt that it was their duty to spread their race.

New technology and medicine was introduced into Africa
Africans were treated poorly by the Europeans, and slaves were sent to Asia.
Cultures were taken away.
Terrorism and racism are the lasting effects of imperialism today.
